Welcome to the
CHTA Data Center

Gathering accurate and timely statistics on Caribbean tourism has always been challenging. CHTA has therefore created the 'Data Center' to be a "one-stop-shop" for the plethora of reports that are generated throughout the region every month but have never before been collected and gathered together in one easy-access depository. The reports are posted exactly as they are received and CHTA has no opinion of their validity or methodology; interpretation thereof is the responsibility of the user.

The Caribbean Tourism Organization provides monthly tourist arrivals data as a courtesy to CHTA and its members. CTO is a source for much more detailed data about arrivals. To learn more about what is available and how to access it contact www.onecaribbean.org/buy-cto-tourism-statistics/

The Data Center consists of four types of data-sets:

Regional Monthly Reports
Lodging performance and tourist arrival reports provided on a monthly basis by Smith Travel Research (STR), Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) and Expedia's monthly air capacity and ADR report.

STR (Smith Travel Research, Inc.) - Caribbean Lodging and Pipeline Reports
The Lodging Industry, today and tomorrow, in one place. CHTA members get the whole story from STR's Lodging Census and Pipeline Reports on a monthly basis. It's common knowledge: Smith Travel Research (STR) has the most complete, accurate and timely census of existing and future hotel supply. As a member of CHTA, you now have unique access to the best data available.

Destination Data
Mostly submitted by the local hotel association and in some cases by the tourist board. The data varies from very basic occupancy details to RevPAR and visitor arrival information. If a destination is highlighted in color then some form of report is available for that country (but not necessarily for every month).

Research, Surveys and Presentations
These are various one-off items such as the WTTC's Economic Impact Study for Caribbean Tourism (June 2009), the IATA presentation regarding the airline industry that was delivered at the 2009 Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Investment Conference, a European Update from our UK partner (AMG Ltd), a Travelocity Consumer Confidence study, STR reports prepared especially for CHTA's Board of Directors comparing the Caribbean's performance to other warm weather destinations, STR Monthly Construction Report, etc.
